The Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX) was incorporated in 2018 to provide a regulated national and regional marketplace that links producers and buyers of agricultural and non-agricultural commodities, ensuring transparent price discovery, competitive pricing, and confidence in trade.

Its core mandate is to guarantee the quality and quantity of commodities traded, facilitate timely delivery and settlement, and improve access to agricultural and financial markets — particularly for smallholder farmers. Through its electronic trading platform and integrated warehouse receipt system, GCX enhances market efficiency, lowers transaction costs, and enables participants to trade from any location while benefiting from transparent market data.

As the only commodity exchange in Ghana — one of the fastest-growing economies on the continent — GCX is tasked with building capacity and providing training for market actors and stakeholders to ensure a strong foundational understanding of commodity trading practices.

The CPCT provides an overview of commodity exchanges and covers key areas such as spot contract design, warehouse receipt systems, trading operations, clearing and settlement, legal and regulatory frameworks, market data, membership, and more.

Upon successful completion, participants will earn a certificate jointly issued by GCX and the Ghana Investment and Securities Institute (GISI).
